Outlaw scored 22 in Lady Trojan Voctory

By CHARLIE HUST
WCHS head coach Tonya Wells said that Henderson’s DeAsia Outlaw is the “best player in the region”. The 6-foot-2 center did little to disprove that last Tuesday night, pouring in a game-high 22 points to lead the Lady Colonels past WCHS 62-47 in Trojan gym.

Outlaw came to Henderson’s rescue with 13 points in the fourth quarter helping to spark 23-7 scoring advantage in the quarter.
Webster (11-7), which lost handily to HCHS on D
ec. 16, used a strong run in the opening minutes of the second quarter to earn a 16-10 lead. After a Bailey Townsend 3-pointer, Hallie Gibson drained consecutive jumpers to fuel the run. The Lady Trojans maintained a 27-24 lead at intermission.
The intensity from WCHS continued in the third quarter as the points came from a variety of players. After buckets from Darrian McNary and Gibson, the Lady Trojans owned a nine-point lead with 2:30 left in the third period.
But the talented forward scored 15 on Henderson’s next 25 points and 12 rebounds, sparking an 8-0 run and turning the Webster lead into a 55-44 advantage to the Lady Colonels (11-3).
Webster was limited to just two field goals in the final eight minutes, one each from Gibson and Kristen Keeney.
Gibson came off the bench to lead the balanced WCHS scoring attack with nine points. Keeney added eight points while Christian Papineau, Kaylee Duncan and Bailey Townsend finished with seven points apiece. Hannah Pritchett finished with five points while McNary added four points, all coming from the free throw line.
Webster grabbed it early by taking advantage of the aggressive Henderson defense and sinking 11-of-15 free throws in the first half. That number shrank to 6-for-9 in the final two quarters.
The WCHS girls are back in action hosting Christian County on Friday and then traveling to Muhlenberg County on Saturday. They will host McCracken County next Tuesday in Dixon.
