Webster shutout by Paducah Tilghman, will face South Warren in post-season play

By CHARLIE HUST
Paducah Tilghman used its high-powered offense and air-tight defense to totally dominated Webster County Friday night to spoil the Trojans’ senior night in Dixon.
The Blue Tornado struck early and often and cruised to a 49-0 victory to finish the regular season with a 5-5 overall record and a perfect 3-0 mark in Class 3A, District 1 play.

Webster dropped to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the district.
It was the second straight District shutout for Tilghman as they strong defense blanked Trigg County 45-0 two weeks ago.
The Trojans will complete regular-season play Friday night, taking on McLean County in Calhoun. The Cougars sport a 4-5 record and are riding a four-game losing streak after falling to powerhouse Owensboro Catholic 60-7 last week.
Regardless of the outcome of Friday’s contest, the Trojans will compete in post-season play. WCHS will seeded fourth in district action and will take on that state’s second-ranked team in South Warren in Bowling Green. The Spartans enjoy a perfect 9-0 mark and have allowed just 68 points all season, including two shutouts. No team has scored more than 14 points against the powerful SWHS squad.
