Whitsell leads Trojans to second place at Calloway County

Webster County senior Iszack Whitsell finished second overall to lead the Trojan cross country team to a very impressive second-place finish during the Calloway County Invitational held at Murray State University’s West Farm Course on Saturday.
Graves County edged the Trojans for the team title by a single point, 52-53.
Whitsell covered the 5K course in 16:47.80, just behind Javan Winders of Henry County (TN) in a winning time of 16:30.80.

Rounding out a strong showing from the Trojans was Ronin Periard in 14th place (18:31.10), MitchaMitel Shelton right on his heels in 15th position (18:40.00) and Preston Glazebrook in 17th place (18:42.30).   
Webster senior Nolan Pettit was 35th overall (19:25.20) while fellow seniors Jeremy Garrett (19:33.50)   and Caanan Floyd (20:01.30) were 44th and 56th respectively.
Spencer Mccormick (20:31.90) was 63rd, Robert Daugherty (21:37.60) 80th,  Reece Clayton 86th (21:57.70) and Joseph Chancellor 102 (23:07.90).
Webster girls’ squad also turned in a strong run, placing fifth overall out of the strong field.
WCHS junior Ali Cherry once again paced the Lady Trojans with a 16th place finish in 22:22.90. Aleja Grant of Paducah Tilghman won the race in 18:52.10.
Chanler Cole, just a freshman, was 20th overall for Webster (22:36.40) while eighth grader Kendra Griffin was 26th (22:50.80). Hannah Pritchett finished 31st (23:06.40), followed by another eighth grader Hadley Mitchell in 38th (23:45.00). Paige Tapp finished 44th (23:57.00), Kalie Branson 46th (24:14.80), Madison Townsend 70th (25:58.20), Carrie Grace McCormick 78th (27:04.40), Katlyn Prow 80th (27:10.20), Holly Osborn 84th (27:23.50),  Savannah Jones 85th (27:29.70) and Meredith Harley 99th (28:46.80).

Webster County finished third in the race with 67 points. Marshall County won the event (37) and Graves County was second (44).
Luke Glazebrook finished 42nd in the boys 4K run, earning a 19:24.20 clocking.
Both Webster squads head to Paducah this Saturday to participate in the annual St. Mary’s Invitational.
