Webster County finish third in three-team track meet

Webster County track teams tangled with Henderson and Madisonville-North Hopkins in a three-team meet last Tuesday in Henderson.




On the girls’ side, Madisonville won the event with 58 points, followed by Henderson with 49 and WCHS with 34.
WC senior Darrian McNary led the Lady Trojans with a first-place finish in the long jump (14’-11.5”) and a fourth-place finish in the 400 meter (72.2). Carrie Grace McCormick was fifth in the race (76.3).
WCHS sophomore Bonnie Hoffman also earned a first-place finish, topping the field in the discus with a toss of 68’-11”. She was fourth overall in the shot put (24’).
Webster junior Paige Tapp was strong in the 800 meter, placing second (2:57.9) while fellow junior Hannah Pritchett was second in both the 100 meter hurdles (18.5) and 300 meter hurdles (53.8).
A trio of Lady Trojans ran well in the 3200 meter race with junior Ali Cherry leading the way in the second place (14:17.8), followed by Chanlor Cole in third (14:39.7) and Colleen Glazebrook in fourth (15:06.7). Kaile Branson was third overall in the 1600 meter (6:37.8) with Kendra Griffin fifth (6:46.0). Webster senior Cheyenne Query was fourth in the 800 meter (4:04.9), 10th in the 100 meter dash and 12th in the 200 meter (46.0).
Carrie Grace McCormick was eighth in the 200 (32.2). WC junior Ryann Wiggins was sixth in the shot (21’-9.5”) and sixth in the discus (47’-7”).
Madisonville also captured the team title on the boys’ side, earning 87 points. Henderson County was second (50) and Webster third (18).
Webster’s Trevor Cole, a sophomore, grabbed the only first place of the day, sprinting past the field in the 1600 meter with a 4:59.5 clocking.
Webster County junior Robert Daugherty had a big day in the distance races, finishing second in both the 800 meter (2:15.8) and the 1600 meter (5:01.4).
Senior Caleb Utley was third in the shot put (36’-8”) and fourth in the discus (98’-6”). Cole Hazelwood was 10th in the event (51’-3”).
Preston Glazebrook, another talented sophomore, was third in the 3200 meter (11:50.8) while Jeremy Garrett was fourth (12:02.1) and Clayton Reece fifth (13:08.8). 
Ronin Periard was sixth in the 1600 meter (5:17.7), Clayton Reece 10th (5:45.5) and Joe Chancellor 13th (6:45). Ryder Wood was sixth in the long jump (14’-5.75”), followed by Periard in seventh (14’-3.5”) and Preston Glazebrook (12’-2”).
Iszack Whitsell was ninth in the shot put (28’-9”), Poom Prasopsvkh was 11th (27’-5”), Cole Hazelwood 12th (26’-0”), Trevor Cole 14th (23’-5”) and Jeremy Garrett 15th (22’-9”). 
Garrett was fifth overall in the 400 meter (59.3) while Spencer McCormick was sixth (59.5), Matthew Hoover eighth (60.6) and Trevor Cole ninth (62.3). 
Both Webster squads will participate in the Pennyrile Athletic Conference meet on Thursday at Crittenden County High School and then back to Henderson on Friday for the annual Henderson County Invitational.
