Track team visits Henderson County Invitational

Webster County track teams make their annual visit to the Henderson County Invitational held last Friday at Colonel Stadium on a cool and brisk night.
Both squads finished eight in the talent-loaded 11-team field.


In girls’ action, WCHS senior Darrian McNary claimed the Lady Trojans’ only first-place finish, topping the field in the long jump with a leap of 15’-0.75”. McNary was also sixth in the 400 meter (69.3)
Junior hurdler Hannah Pritchett was third in the 300 meter hurdles (52.6) and fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (19.1). Brook Hoffmon had a strong day in field events, finishing fourth overall in the discus (75’-07”) and 10th in the shot put (25’). Ryan Wiggins was 16th in the shot (21’-3.5”) while Brooklyn Drury was 16th in the discus (57’-4”). Colleen Glazebrook, just a seventh grader, was seventh in the 3200 meter (14:44). Freshmen Kaile Branson was 12th in the 800 meter (2:51.5), followed by fellow freshman Chanler Cole in 15th-place (3:09.6). Colleen Glazebrook was 18th (3:19.4).
Branson returned to the track to finish 11th in the 1600 meter (6:12.9) while Cole was 15th (6:45.7).

In boys’ action, Iszack Whitsell dominated the 3200 meter with a season’s-best time of 9:58.8. The Morehead State signee then anchored the Trojan 4x800 meter relay squad (Whitsell, Cole Hazelwood, Robert daugherty, Trevor Cole) to victory in 8:46.2. Cole was also third overall in the 3200 meter (10:34.3), followed by Jeremy Garrett in 11th place (11:28).
Mitchael Shelton, another talented WCHS sophomore, was third overall in the 1600 meter (4:47.7) while Robert Daugherty was 10th (5:08.9) and Ronin Periard 13th (5:14). Shelton came back to finish fifth in the 800 meter (2:17.8) while Preston Glazebrook was 14th (2:26.6) and Periard 15th (2:27.6).
WC sophomore Poom Prasopsukh was seventh overall in the 300 meter hurdles (54.2), followed by Periard in 10th place (58.5). Reece Clayton was eighth in the 100 meter hurdles (37.7). Ryder Wood was 10th in the 200 meter (28.1) and 13th in the 100 meter (13.1). Preston Glazebrook was 11th in the 200 (29.5) while Spencer McCormick was 15th in the 100 meter (14.1).
Robert Daugherty was 11th overall in the 400 meter (58.4) just ahead of Matthew Hoover in 14th place (60.9).
WCHS senior Caleb Utley had a strong day in the field events, finishing fourth overall in the discus (114’-4”) and fifth in the shot put (40’-3.5”). Matt Hoover was 16th in the shot (26’-10”) while Poom prasopsukh was 11th in the triple jump (26’-9.5”) and Reece Clayton 12th (22’-11.5”). Ryder Wood was 15th in the long jump (13’-10”) and Preston Glazebrook was 16th (10’-5”).
Webster’s 4x200 meter relay team (McCormick, Glazebrook, Prasopsukh and Zack Pugh) was eighth (1:48.9) and the 4x100 relay squad (Pugh, McCormick, Prasopsukh and Wood) was ninth overall (53.6).
