In their biggest offensive output of the season, the Trojans dominated the visiting Panthers in just five innings Saturday afternoon in Dixon.
WC’s starting hurler Ethan Clayton limited DSHS to just four hits and allowed no earned runs.
The Trojans got the bats going early in the contest, plating eight runs in the bottom of the first courtesy of five walks and one hit batter. Hunter Davis added an RBI-single while Brady Wright had a bases-loaded double in the uprising. Logan Edwards also had a single in the inning.
Webster made it 10-0 in the second when Mickey Morse stroked a lead-off single, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a single from Madison Melton. Coy Burns reached on an error and scored later in the inning on the Panther’s fifth error of the game.
Dawson got a single run in the third but the Trojans answered with a single tally as Ethan Clayton walked and scored on a single from Morse. Webster made it 12-3 in the bottom of the fourth when Ben Jackson walked and scored one out later on another Wright single.
Webster then ended the game in the bottom of the fifth when Morse cracked his third hit of the game, a lead-off double. He easily scored on a single from Maddy Melton.

The Trojans were limited to just four hits in an early-morning district matchup against Union County Saturday in Morganfield.
It looked promising for the Trojans in the top of the first as Maddy Melton drilled a one-out double and came around to score on Mickey Morse’s RBI-single. Ethan Clayton also had a single in inning but Morse was gunned down at third on the play. That would be all the offense WCHS could muster against Union hurler Jared Ricketson. The Trojans’ only other hit came in the bottom of the fifth on a leadoff single from Clayton Buchanan.
Union grabbed a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first and then added six runs in the third off WCHS starter Mickey Morse.

Senior pitching ace Maddy Melton scattered six hits and struck out four to lead the Trojans to a hard-fought victory over the Rockets last Thursday in Dixon.
Webster used a pair of walks in the bottom of the first to take an early 1-0 lead. Brady Wright and Melton were issued back-to-back free passes  and Wright sprinted to third and then to home on a pair of passed balls.
Melton defused the Rockets until a pair of singles and two stolen bases knotted the score 1-1 in the top of the fifth. Melton then worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the sixth and that set-up Webster’s game-winning rally in the bottom of the frame.
Mickey Morse was hit by a open to open the frame. He stole second, then sprinted to third on a groundout. Two pitches later, he scored on a wild pitch to give Webster the 2-1 lead and the victory.
Devin Morris had Webster’s only hit of the game, a single in the second inning.
