Webster County boys’ golf team finished third in the four-team Pennyrile Athletic Conference Invitational held at Providence Municipal Golf & Recreation Center last Thursday.
Union County won the event at 156 while Hopkins Central was second (164), Webster third (173) and Crittenden County fourth (185).
Tyler McKinney of Union and Central Trevor Sanchez shared medalist honors with two-over par 38.
Devin Morris led the Trojans with a 41 while Zac Shoulders, Hunter Davis and Trevis Bell all finished with 44’s. Logan Edwards ended his round with a 45.
In girls’ action, the Lady Trojans travel to Henderson County Country Club last Tuesday and gave the Lady Colonels all they wanted. HCHS prevailed by just three strokes, 195-198.
Webster Cassidy Thomas led Webster with a 43, three strokes back of Henderson’s Taylor Church and Payton Carter for medalist honors.
Elizabeth Waller added a 48 while Ashley Henry finished with a 51. Dara Wyatt carded a 56 and Maddy Green a 64.
The Trojan golf team battled a star-studded Owensboro Catholic Invitational held Saturday at Ben Hawes State Park.
Webster finished 10th in the 18-team field led by a four-over-par 76 from Trevis Bell. Zach Norris took medalist honors with a five-under-par 67 to lead Jackson County to the team title.
Webster’s Zac Shoulders finished with an 84 while Devin Morris added a 90. Tyler Smith carded a 94 and Hunter Davis a 95.
