Trojan 2016 baseball season comes to an end

Despite out hitting the Union County 7-6 on Monday, the Trojans couldn’t put together enough runs to beat the Braves in the 6th District Tournament in Henderson. They end their season with a 7-25 record.
Union County put one run on the board with a double in the first inning, but Hunter Davis and his squad quickly went on the defensive. The senior hurler struck out three of the next six batters, and the defence kept the rest from reaching base.

In the bottom of the third, Union added two more runs to their total thanks to an error and a batter being hit by a pitch. The Braves added a fourth run off of a one run homer in the fourth.

The Trojans mounted a rally in the fifth inning. Both Clayton Buchanan and Brendon Thompson picked up RBI singles to cut the Union lead to 4-2.

In the sixth, Logan Erickson added another RBI single to the count, cutting the lead to one run.
Ethan Clayton entered the game in relief of Davis in the bottom of the sixth with the bases loaded. He struck the first batter, sending in a run, and then gave up a two run single to give the Braves a 7-3.

Webster was unable to mount a charge in their final at bat.
The loss was scored to Hunter Davis, who struck out six through 5.2 innings while giving up five hits and five earned runs.

Clayton have up one hit and no earned runs in 0.1 innings on the mound.

Ethan Clayton, Clayton Buchanan and Brendon Thompson all hit 2-4 in the game. Buchanan had an RBI.

Logan Erickson was 1-3 with an RBI.

Ethan Clayton had a big game for the Trojans on Thursday night against Trigg County, but it wasn’t enough to pick up the win.

Clayton reached base in three of four plate appearances, including a single and two walks. He also pitched one perfect inning in relief.

The game remained scoreless until the Wildcats grabbed an RBI single in the top of the fourth. They would score two more in the fifth and one in the sixth to take a 4-0 lead.

Webster cut that lead in half in the bottom of the six, plating two runs off of an error, but the Wildcats held them off.

The loss went to Hunter Davis, who struck out four through five innings, while giving up eight hits and three earned runs.

Davis, Brendon Thompson and Drake Villines were each 1-4 on the night.
