Tri-County Challenge no challenge for WC (Photo Slide Show)

By CHARLIE HUST

Both Webster County squads easily won the annual Tri-County Challange races held at East Heights Elementary School in Henderson last Thursday. The Trojans earned a commanding 19-41 win over Henderson while Union County did not field an entire team.

In girls’ action, the Lady Trojans took eight of the top nine spots in the race for a dominating 15-50 victory over Henderson.

The only competition in the race for Webster’s Iszack Whitsell and Ali Cherry were their own teammates. Whitsell won in 16:54.1, more than 30 seconds ahead of Union County’s Chance Oxford. Robert Daugherty was third overall for the Trojans, followed by former Trojan Miquel Velazquez now running for Henderson.
Cherry easily won the girls’ 5K, outlasting teammate Chanlor Cole by almost a minute with a 21:09.2 clocking. Union’s Mary Lou Loxely finished third to keep the Lady Trojans for earning a clean sweep in the race.
