It was a sizzling Saturday and the WCHS golf team equaled the temperature with a season’s-best score to finish second in the annual Christian County Golf Invitational held at Western Hill Golf Club in Hopkinsville.
Trevis Bell fired a 79, earning a fourth-place finish overall, to lead the Trojans to a 360 team score. Madisonville-North Hopkins won the team title.
WC junior Zac Shoulders placed 11th overall with an 88 while Devin Morris added a 95 and Tyler Smith a 98.
Webster County’s boys golf team continued its busy schedule last week traveling to Hopkinsville and Morganfield for matches.
The Trojans battled county-rivals Union and Henderson last Tuesday at Breckenridge Country Club in Morganfield. Union County won the match with a 166 team total, followed by Henderson’s 171. WCHS ended the day with a much-improved 175.
WC junior Trevis Bell tied for medalist honors with Henderson’s Clay Church, both carding 3-over-par 39’s.
Zac Shoulders added a 43 while Devin Morris finished with a 46. Tyler Smith completed the scoring with a 47.
In last Thursday’s match, the Trojans traveled to Western Hill Golf Course in Hopkinsville with a three-team against Christian County and Madisonville-North Hopkins.
The Maroons easily won the match with a combined 157, followed by a 188 from Christian County. Webster ended its round with a 194.
Bell led the Trojans with his second 3-over-par 39 of the week followed by a 46 from Zac Shoulders. Devin Morris added a 53 and Hunter Davis carded a 56.
