Webster girls fall to 2-4


The Lady Trojans fall to 2-4 on the season after a home win and a pair of losses on the road last week.

Tuesday night the Lady Trojans defeated the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm at Trojan Gym in Dixon.

Hallie Gibson led the Trojans with 20 points. Kaylee Duncan had 14, with Karlie Keeney and Jessica Winders both scoring 13.


Also scoring were: Kelsey Payne (6); Alyssa Payne (4); Adeline McDyer (2); Kerstin Braden (2); Rylee Warford (2); and Jamie Winstead (1).

On Friday, Webster took on the undefeated Murray High School Tigers at the Messenger Tip-Off Classic in Madisonville. Murray took a first period 13-6 lead. The Lady Trojans were unable to overcome that early deficit despite chipping away at it for the rest of the game.
Both teams put up 15 points in the second quarter to send them to the locker rook with a 28-21 Murray lead.

In the third period the Lady Trojans battled back, closing the gap to 40-36. In the fourth the lady Trojans closed the gap further by out scoring Murray 13-10, but it wasn’t enough to close the early gap.

Karlie Keeley led the Trojans with ten points.
Also scoring were: Kalee Duncan (9); Rylee Warford (9); Jessica Winders (7); Hallie Gibson (6); Kelsey Payne (6); and Jamie Winstead (2).
Gibson added 14 rebounds on the night.

On Monday, the Henderson County Lady Colonels hosted the Lady Trojans in the Sixth District Opener. It was a tight game early with the Colonels taking the first period 13-11, but Webster battled back in the second to head to the locker room with a narrow 19-18 lead.
In the second half the Lady Colonels stepped up the defense, shutting the Lady Trojans out for a stretch of more than eight minutes.

Freshman Karlee Keeney led all Webster County scorers with 10 points. Kelsey Payne added nine, while Kerstin Braden scored seven, Kaylee Duncan scored six, Jessica Winders added four points, Ava Harris scored two and Hallie Gibson had two.
