The Lady Trojan tennis team completed its season on Monday with a strong showing in the Regional Tournament held at Ruff Park in Hopkinsville.

In singles’ play, Hanna VanWinkle opened play with a tough draw against 2014 Regional runner-up Mary Glen Powell of Hopkinsville. She lost the first set 6-love but gave Powell a good fight in the second set before falling 6-3.

Webster County defeats UHA Tennis

Webster County High School tennis team dominated University Heights Academy last Tuesday at Ruff Park in Hopkinsville, winning all but three matches.

In top-seed play, Cassidy Thomas drilled Leandra Meredith 8-1 while Hanna Van VanWinkle also posted an 8-1 win over Sofia Khan. Katie Floyd bested Antha France 8-2 while WC’s Katelyn Mattingly beat Lauren Wallace 8-4. Webster’s other singles’ victory was an 8-1 win from Kaylee Duncan.

Providence Municipal Golf & Recreation Center to hold free tennis clinic

Player with local ties win Kentucky state tennis title

At the tender age of 14 and just an eighth grader, Maci Ferguson of Russell High School has a tennis state championship trophy under her belt. And her mother, Larra Kuykendall Ferguson, a Clay native and Webster County High School graduate, has joined in the success becoming the Russell girls’ tennis coach just three years ago.

WC girl's tennis season comes to an end

Webster County High School girls’ tennis team completed it's season last Tuesday during the annual Second Region Tennis Tournament held at Henderson County High School. The Lady Trojans tied for fifth with Henderson County in the tourney under first-year head coach Mary Crouse Schalk.

Lady Trojans tennis capture first Pennyrile Athletic Conference title

Webster County High School girls’ tennis team upset Hopkins County Central last week to capture the first-ever Pennyrile Athletic Conference title.

Brooke Clark, Katie Floyd, Amanda Newman, Cassidy Thomas all posted singles’ victories while Thomas and Hannah Buchanan combined for a doubles’ win. Katelyn Mattingly and Katie Floyd also earned a doubles’ victory as well.

Webster County boys beat Fort Campbell

Webster County High School boys’ tennis squad picked up its first win of the season over Fort Campbell last Thursday in Dixon behind singles’ victories from Ben Brumfiel along with a doubles victory off the rackets of Brumfiel and Trey Chancellor.

WCHS Tennis Sweeps Union County

Webster County tennis teams enjoyed a big win, sweeping arch-rival Union County including victories from Trojans Jeremiah Welton and Dakota DeJarnette in their first-ever varsity tennis match.

The Lady Trojans completely dominated the Bravettes, sweeping all singles and doubles matches.

Both squads were action against very strong Caldwell County teams on Thursday before rain washed-out the matches. WCHS will hosted Union County on Tuesday in Dixon.

WC Tennis opens season against Hopkinsville

Webster County tennis teams, under the direction of new head coach Mary Crouse Schalk, opened the 2014 season last Thursday hosting Hopkinsville.

The visiting Tiger squads proved to be too much for the young WCHS teams to handle. Hopkinsville won all of the boys’ singles matches and downed the Lady Trojans in all singles and doubles matches.
