WCHS Volleyball has first ever winning record

The WCHS Lady Trojan volleyball team has started the 2015 season with a 2-1 record, the first time the Webster team has achieved a winning record in program history.

The Lady Trojans began the season falling to McLean County in three sets (16-25, 23-25, 13-25) on Tuesday.  Brooklyn Drury led the way with 2 kills and 2 blocks.  Leah Martinez led with 3 aces, with Hailey McKinsey and Danielle Payne picking up 2 aces each.

The WCHS volleyball squad spoiled McLean County’s senior night last Tuesday, spiking the Lady Cougars in a five set match.

Webster County’s volleyball squad took it on the chin last week, dropping a pair of matches.

The Lady Trojans fell in four sets to McLean County last Tuesday. After winning the first set 25-15, the WC girls dropped three straight to close out the evening 23-25, 20-25, 16-25.

Paced by some hard-hitting serves from Sidney Link, Leah Martinez, Moriah Wallace and Hannah Heady along with 12 kills from senior Christian Papineau, the WCHS volleyball team posted the first-ever district victory over Union County in four sets 26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18.

Webster County High School has hired Carolyn Drury as the next head volleyball coach. She will be replacing Bradley Brown who has been hired as a assistant football coach for the upcoming season.

Webster County High School will be looking for a new volleyball head coach after the resignation of Bradley Brown late last week in an announcement from WCHS athletic director Matt Bell. He will assume assistant football coach duties under newly-hired football coach Adam Turner.

Webster County’s volleyball season came to an end last Tuesday night in the opening round of the Sixth District Tournament hosted by WCHS.

Webster County volleyball picks up first victory of season

The much-improved Webster County volleyball squad slammed McLean County on Tuesday night for its first varsity win of the season.

Led by 13 ‘kills’ from Darrian McNary and 12 from Christian Papineau, the Lady Trojans took 3-of-5 sets from the visiting Lady Cougars.
